           April has been a month of movement, meaning, and deepening here at The Golden Thread Sanctuary — a month where the threads of community, creativity, nervous system healing, and Earth‑rooted remembrance have woven themselves into something quietly powerful. 
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           In my last blog, I wrote about the Sanctuary as a place of return — a remembering rather than a creation. This month has felt like a continuation of that remembering, but with a wider circle. More hands. More hearts. More threads. 
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           April has shown me, again and again, that healing is not something we do alone. It is something that unfolds in relationship — with each other, with the land, with the unseen threads that guide us, and with the communities that gather around shared intention. 
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           Earth Matters — And So Do We
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
            
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           This month, the Sanctuary has been honoured to participate in the 
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           Earth Matters exhibition
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           , a celebration of our relationship with the natural world and the materials, stories, and memories held within it.  The exhibition mirrors the heart of our work here: that the body is a landscape, that healing is ecological, that we are shaped by the Earth just as we shape it. 
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Standing among the pieces — each one a conversation between human hands and the living world — I felt the same truth that guides our practice: 
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           we belong to the Earth, and the Earth belongs to us.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
            
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           This is not metaphor. It is nervous system reality. It is spiritual ecology. It is the golden thread. 
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;

           A Month of Community Offerings &amp;amp; Beautiful Collaboration

           April has been full — not in the overwhelming sense, but in the way a forest feels full: layered, alive, interconnected.

    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;

          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;

    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;

           We were welcomed into a vibrant community of healers, intuitives, and seekers. The conversations, the curiosity, the shared desire for meaning — all of it affirmed the Sanctuary’s purpose as a place where people come to reconnect with themselves and with something larger.

  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;

           This collaboration was a gift. Mikaela brought a depth of presence and embodied wisdom that harmonized beautifully with the Sanctuary’s intention. Together, we held space for participants to return to their bodies, their breath, and their inner knowing — a true homecoming.

           One of the most meaningful threads this month has been our work with the

           Ottawa Juniors Ultimate Hockey League
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
            at the Dev Centre taking place April 25th.  Across 
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           eight sessions and one yoga flow
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           , we will explore:

           These young athletes are learning something many adults never do:

           that performance is not separate from wellbeing.

           That the body is not separate from the mind.

           That striving and softness can coexist.

           Earth Day is not a performance. It is a remembering. A returning. A softening into the truth that we are part of a larger web — one that holds us, shapes us, and calls us back when we forget.

  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           This event feels like the natural culmination of everything April has offered:

           A Month of Threads Coming Together

           Earth matters. Community matters. Connection matters. And you matter.

           For months now, something has been quietly shifting beneath the surface of my work — a deepening, a widening, a gathering of threads that have long been waiting to be woven together.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           I wrote recently about this gentle unfolding, this slow maturation of the practice, this sense that the work was becoming more of what it had always been meant to be.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Today, that unfolding takes form.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Today, I am honoured to share the next chapter of this evolution:

           A space that has been living in the marrow of this work for years.

           A space that feels less like a creation and more like a remembering — a returning to the truest shape of what this work has always been becoming.

           The Golden Thread Sanctuary is not a departure from what has been.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           It is the natural continuation of it — the deeper layer that has been quietly calling forward.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           This Sanctuary is built on the foundations that have always guided my practice:

           But now, these elements are woven together with greater clarity, spaciousness, and integrity.

  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           This is a place where holistic psychotherapy, integrative psychotherapy, and spiritual counselling and awakening meet the body, the breath, and the deeper stories that shape us.  A place where we do not view pathology, but wholeness, wisdom, and the innate healing intelligence that lives within every person who enters.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

           Here, we honour the healing power of nature — the way we are connected to each other, to the land, and to the unseen threads that bind all things.

           A Gentle Unveiling: The Shift That’s Been Quietly Unfolding
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Something has been moving beneath the surface of my work for a long while now — a slow, steady deepening, a widening of the path, a soft but unmistakable shift in how I hold space and how this work wants to live in the world.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           It hasn’t been sudden. It has been a quiet, organic unfolding.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           A remembering.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           A returning.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           A gathering of threads that have been waiting to be woven together.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Over the past year, my practice has been evolving — not away from what it has been, but toward what it has always been becoming. The work is expanding in depth, in scope, and in the ways it meets people who are ready for the deeper layers of their own remembering.This shift is rooted in the same foundations that have always guided me:
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           presence, intuition, nervous system attunement, story, myth, nature, and the belief that healing is not a fixing but a returning to wholeness.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           But the way these elements come together is changing — becoming more integrated, more spacious, more aligned with the truth of this work.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;strong&gt;&#xD;
      
           What This Means
          &#xD;
    &lt;/strong&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           You may begin to notice subtle changes in how I speak about the work, the kinds of offerings I share, and the way the practice holds those who arrive. This evolution reflects:

           • 	a practice that feels less like a service and more like a sanctuary

           This is not a rebrand.

           It is a maturation.
          &#xD;

           A settling into the truest shape of the work.

           As this inner shift continues, the outer forms will begin to reflect it as well.

           Sometimes We Let Go

           As I sit here writing on my front porch in the mid-morning sun, I’m aware of the magnificence and beauty of this time of year, warmth speckled with a slight chill in the breeze, later mornings and earlier evenings, the sound of leaves gently letting go and landing on the nearby group, bees buzzing steadily, and squirrels chattering and chasing each other as the protect their winter harvest. Just last week was the autumn equinox, where a beautiful group of women gathered in my little yoga studio honouring this powerful season of change, what it truly means, how we can embody that within, and gracefully accept moments of cyclical transition. Some of these cycles return back to their original form with every rotation, others forming a spiral, unfolding forward through the cycle but never quite in the same way.  While the autumn equinox is an ever repeating cycle of regeneration and growth through the necessary process of letting go and even death, this year I’m aware of the subtle spiral of the cycle as it relates to my own yoga journey, my continued growth as a person and the larger cycle of human life. My yoga journey has seen many seasons and has celebrated a flow on many an autumn equinox. While the heart and gift of the equinox remain steady and immoveable – letting go, death, rebirth, transformation, and rest – I am aware this year that the woman, the mind, the soul, and the body that stood on my mat this autumn equinox now fully embodies the spiral. At some point, the tree ages and changes and never returns in the spring, the spiraling nature of the cycle becoming more obvious. The unfolding of the spiral is gradual, each year inching forward almost imperceptibly. At some, however, like the tree, the body we find ourselves in one equinox morning is vastly different from the one that practiced so many years ago. The pace is slower, the poses more supported, the flexibility perhaps shifting, the musculature decreasing, the strength that once held us for long moments in crow now only allowing us a momentary visit until our feet must find the floor again.   
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
        
            ﻿
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Yoga is a practice of presence, and in that presence, we learn to honour the natural rhythms of both the earth and our own bodies. As the seasons shift—from the outward energy of summer to the introspective calm of fall—yoga offers a way to attune ourselves to these changes with grace and awareness. Just as nature cycles through phases of growth, harvest, and rest, our bodies too evolve over time, requiring different forms of care and movement. In youth, we may crave dynamic flows and physical challenge; as we age, we often seek grounding, restoration, and deeper breath. Yoga supports these transitions by meeting us where we are—offering strength when we feel vibrant, stillness when we need to slow down, and compassion as we navigate the ever-changing landscape of our lives.  I’m hoping, by now, at this point in our journey through the Many Colours of Yoga, you’re beginning to see that the heart of this little column is not about exercise, forcing our bodies to do this thing or that, or to proscribe the yoga journey for you. Rather, it is to show us how yoga IS life.  It is a path forward not simply on the mat, but off the mat – into our homes, our work, our community, our forests and rivers, our world – and that the limbs of yoga, which we’ll begin to explore, are intended to be ways of living in every moment and every season of our lives. 
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;

           How Hypnosis Works - A Brief Overview

            .We are all familiar with the challenges of changing behaviors, breaking habits, creating sustainable life affirming lifestyle choices and the tenacity of our own difficult, unwanted and often detrimental behavioural patterns.  Firstly, please know you are not alone in these challenge but rather, each of us is confronted in one way or another with behaviors an habits that we find resistant to any effort to overcome them, and often find ourselves feeling defeated and discouraged.  Consider the individual smoking a pack a day, who, on is drive to work, without thinking, reaches for his first cigarette of the day and takes a drag; eyes still intently fixed on the upcoming stop sign, frustrated that yet again he found himself cigarette in hand despite having set this morning as his quitting date.  Across the other side of town, a pleasant middle-aged, woman finds herself captivated by the newest series on Netflix and perplexed as she looks are her clock 5 hours later wondering where both the day had gone and the bag of potato chips by her side, despite her plan to go for a walk today and prepare a lovely vegetable soup. 
           &#xD;
      &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;br/&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           So, what do these two scenarios have in common and what do they have to do with hypnosis?
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           In each situation, both individuals are operating at two different levels of conscious awareness without realizing it. Both are fully awake and deeply engrossed in their surroundings. But at the same time, they are both being driven by deep messages within the subcorticol structure of the brain, the unconscious, in which, despite their genuine desire for change and transformation,  each individual"s behaviour is governed by unseen intruders are sneaking in under the radar, with “bad-habit” instructions to subtly influence the person’s waking behaviour. So, the driver’s smoking addiction continues for another day and the lady wonders why she can’t lose weight.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           If only there was a way to communicate with that subconscious part and let it know the unwanted effects it was causing. But here’s the dilemma. It’s not possible to have a subconscious thought while you’re fully awake. Try it – you won’t be able to. There is a psychological barrier between the fully conscious and awakened ‘you’ and your hidden subconscious self. That barrier keeps these two levels apart.
          &#xD;
    &lt;/span&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
  &lt;p&gt;&#xD;
    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
      
           Enter Hypnosis

           It’s important to understand that, because your subconscious was “programmed” in the first place, it can be re-programmed today. Given new instructions that help, not hinder. New ways of thinking that boost your confidence and self esteem. Your hypnosis session then, can become a pleasant, life changing experience.

    &lt;span&gt;&#xD;
